My residential street has once again been bustling with activity as a legion of Mac trucks filled with asphalt gets ready to pour on that final, smooth layer on roads that have been ripped up and in disrepair for weeks.
While I have appreciated efforts to resurface pot-holed roads in my neighborhood as part of a city beautification program, the inconvenience of driving on rough roads, dealing with the unpredictable and noisy city crew, and being unable to even get out of my own driveway has really been getting to me.
Every time I see that orange “under construction” sign at the top of the entrance to my neighborhood, I groan inwardly and wonder when all the mess will be cleaned up so I can get back to life as normal.
Waiting is frustrating business. Maybe for you it isn’t awaiting the completion of roads in your neighborhood. Maybe it’s something more personal, something that hits closer to home.
I am guessing that right now for some of you there are sections of your life that are in serious disarray and in need of fixing. Maybe your “under construction” zone is a bad attitude that needs to be ripped up or a relationship that needs to be rebuilt with a solid foundation of love. Maybe it’s navigating through a rough patch at work.
Whatever it is, your life looks like one big, disorganized mess, the noise level is aggravating you, and you are ready to be done with it all!
If that’s you, take heart. Trials don’t go on forever. Problems do get resolved eventually. And if God is the Orchestrator of a major road repair program in your life, making level the path of faith in your heart, know that He has a step-by-step plan to put your life back together so that you get to your destiny safely and so that you can be level-minded no matter who travels your way.
“The rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain (Isaiah 40:4b, NIV).
