Go ahead. Throw in the towel. Quit. Say good-bye.

Isn’t that exactly what the devil wants you to do, right when you are nearing the corner toward some incredible breakthrough?

If you can just hold out a little bit longer, he knows that God’s blessing is going to come your way. So he is trying to get you off track. How? By turning up the heat. The devil kicks harder. He fights stronger, hoping that you will cave.

And right in the middle of your mess of circumstances, those temptations, pressures, anger, sense of failure, weariness, and impatience are a threatening to overwhelm you, particularly when you are being openly accused, bullied, and mocked.

At the moment when you would rather pack it all up and surrender to the enemy’s camp because you are just over it, too tire, too stressed, and out-resourced, the most important thing you can do is hold on. You need to stand your ground.

I love what Isaiah says in reference to what our attitude should be like in the face of incredible odds.

“Because the Sovereign LORD helps me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore have I set my face like flint, and I know I will not be put to shame (Isaiah 50:7, NIV).”

This is a great reminder to us to do what those cool heroes do in the movies – set that jaw, and then stand and fight the bad guys with renewed vigor.

If you are having a tough day and you want to just quit, don’t. Recall that God ultimately fights your battles. He will never leave you at your moment of need. And he will never laugh when the enemy has kicked you until you bleed. He will never put you to shame. You are more than a conqueror with God on your side.
